A Sketch A Day 2012
#8
With summer cons coming up, I’m trying to think of different ways to serve customers. In the past I’ve done $5-10 chibi commissions that can get tedious fast because I’d be getting 20+ a day and they all look the same. I mean, come on, they’re bloody chibis.
This year to freshen things up, I’m thinking about doing one of those 20-minute sketch commission for $20 at this year’s summer cons (Fanime, AM^2, Anime Expo), except with a different model where you can pay me however much you want and the dollar amount would be translated to the minutes I spend sketching. So $5 gets you a 5-minute sketch, $60 gets you a 1-hr sketch (which I most likely won’t do). You even get to stand there and watch me draw if you want (it’s pretty boring). All sketch will be done in pen. No pencil, so no smudging.
With this in mind, I sorta tested out myself last night to see what kind of sketch I can come up with in what amount of time. The Unicorn Horse sketch was 20 minutes ($20), Luffy Luggage sketch was 30 minutes ($30), Toriko sketch was 15 minutes ($15), and the Pokemon Battle sketch took about 50-55 minutes ($50).
I will probably limit myself to no more than 30-minute per sketch, because I still have to sell prints too. But what do you guys think? Especially you con-goers who are gonna stop by my tables: Will this be something you’re interested in?
THAT ONE PIECE SKETCH!
My Fave is the Pokemon battle, sad I won’t be able to go tot the con ; - ;
